Item Description

Early 20th Century Zinc Butchers Trade sign A rare example of an early 20th Century butchers zinc trade sign in the form of a bull’s head. Mounted on its original pine backing shield and hand made from reverse beaten zinc metal sheets. Amazingly the horns are real and attached to the head perfectly as shown. A wonderful example and rare due to its condition and form. This example would have originally hung inside a butcher’s shop to promote their services for selling beef. Size in inches: H 16” x W 18” x D 14” Completely solid in structure and form no broken or loss sections. The surface of the zinc has aged naturally leaving a patination of colour. The backing board is made from pine and is aged with light loss around the edges. This is an aged object which is over 100 years old so please expect natural wear and tear, a rare survivor and can easily be hung on the wall.
