Item Description
Early 20th Century hand carved English folk art whirligig figure
Once upon a time this hand carved early 20th Century English folk art whirligig figure would have sat on top a larger handmade construction or weathervane form. With all its first paint still intact, what can only be described as a station master wearing leather boots, well pressed trousers held up by braces, a green jacket with matching hat. This figure is carved from sectioned wood and has propeller arms that still turn. With a support bracket at its base this item shows lots of natural aging and a deep patination across all its surfaces. A lovely English folk art whirligig figure and true one off.
Size in inches approx.: H 15.5” x W 9” x D 15”
Period: Early 20th Century
Material: Pine
Origin: English
Condition: Aged
Completely solid in structure and form, naturally faded across all its surfaces, flacked paint, aged repairs and dulling of colour. The paint has crackled in areas revealing the pine wood underneath. This item has spent most of its life outside, so please expect an age-related condition. It is exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas on this piece. Therefore, we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections / condition is unclear to avoid disappointment when purchasing.
