This rare collection of hand-crafted Indian clay figures date from the end of the 19th century. Each realistically modelled, comprising of 10 figures, with painted details, wearing cloth garments, standing on rectangular bases, depicting various servants and tradesmen. They would likely have been made in Krishnanagar (near Calcutta), West Bengal. Sold to officers in the English army when on tour. Of museum quality and rare to have so many in such overall good condition.   Size in inches: H 10” x W 2.5” x D 2.5” Age: 1880 – 1900 Unit: 10 Figures Origin: India Material: Clay Completely solid in structure and form, aged naturally across all the surfaces. With aged repairs and over painted sections. Light loss and fractures in areas to the figures, weathered clothing and missing detail as shown. These are old authentic items so please bare this into consideration when purchasing.
