Early 20th Century locksmiths cast metal trade sign.
A large, hand forged cast metal locksmiths trade sign in the form of two overlapped keys. Roughly dated to the first quarter of the 20th Century, still attached to its twisted top cast iron hanging bracket. Showing lots of natural wear across its surface this is a brilliant piece of early advertising and wall decoration.
Size in inches approx.: H 30” x W 44” x D 2.5”
Date: Early 20th Century
Material: Cast metal
This is an old item and shows loss in detail through wear and tear as it would have been displayed outside. The item is worn and faded specifically across its central section and both base sections. One of the hanging loops which is attached to the key is split due to rusting, however the cast iron form of the loop is strong and securely able to hold the keys when hung. The hanging bracket would have been placed in a wall originally therefore can only be hung flat on a wall unless professionally mounted into a wall by a specialist.
