Item Description
Early 20th Century French Folk Art Scratch Built Boat Model
This is a charming well-crafted French folk-art scratch-built boat model. Constructed of many found objects and wooden sections with hand painted detail. With a metal rivetted hull, three separate staircases, a small lifeboat attached named Le Touffu as is the boat which is also dated 1936. A small motor in the hull with a movable spring section, which acts as a control switch to power the boat. A lovely thing……
Size in inches approx.: H 11” x W 17” x D 4”
Origin: French
Date: 1936
Material: wood and metal
Aged look due to its use over many years, with light scuffs, scratches and worn painted detail, there are a few surface cracks in the wood as shown but this doesn’t affect the form in anyway. This boat does not stand alone as photographed therefore a stand would ideally need to be made for display purposes. This item is completely solid in structure and form.
Its exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas of these pieces, therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment upon purchase.
