19th Century English Folk art Anthropomorphic branch skating figure
A charming late 19th Century English folk art Anthropomorphic figure. In the form of an ice skater, with copper sole boots and stood on a bespoke pine display stand. This unique piece of English folk art is made from 1 piece of branch. The artist has obviously seen that it resembles a skater Anthropomorphically and so has added and carved sections to resemble a skater in motion. A truly lovely object. Recently uncovered in a private folk-art collection in the South of England.
Size in inches approx.: H 11” x W 7” x D 3”
This item is aged naturally, with loss of surface detail as it’s a natural piece of branch. The stand may well have been added later. All in one piece and firm in form. A deep natural patination across all its surface as shown.
