A serene mid 20th century French Madonna in the classic Lourdes style, beautifully modelled in plaster with hand painted details. She wears the traditional white robes with blue sash, with delicate gold edging. The rocky grotto style base is typical of French devotional pieces linked to Lourdes pilgrimage shops of the 50s -70s. At 52 cm tall, she has a real presence. A gentle contemplative figure that works equally well as a devotional piece or as part of a French country or rustic interior scheme. The paintwork is soft, the overall condition is very good for age.
