Two vintage French plated Taste du Vin dishes, Mid 20th Century. A tastevin (or "taste du vin") is a traditional French sommelier's wine tasting cup. A silver-plated "Bourgogne" tastevin is highly prized for its decorative engravings, historically used in Burgundy to assess the color and clarity of dry Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines by reflecting light in dim cellars.The Thumb Ring or"poucette" (a ring or thumb-rest welded on the side) allows the taster to hold the small, shallow cup with one hand securely without warming the liquid.A fun addition to the wine cellar.
