Item Description
An early 19th century, sycamore butter worker. This would have been used, during the butter making process, for working the salt into the butter and the water out. The butter would have been worked in a large butter bowl. The worker is turned from sycamore and dates from c.1830. There are two cracks in the rim, one which goes through and one which doesn’t. There are also a couple of woodworm holes but these have been treated so the worm is no longer active. The wood has a lovely patina.
Dimensions: 22.2cm. Height 10cm.
