Item Description
A miniature, Wedgwood Capri Ware jug. This is marked ”WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1820. There is also a large, impressed “K” which would be a workman’s mark. The black basalt body is decorated with oriental style flowers in raised enamel and gilding and this style of decoration was named Capri Ware by Wedgwood. It is rare to find a miniature in Capri Ware and this is also a very unusual shape. Originally it would have had a lid but this is now missing. The jug is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Height 6.2cm. Width 8cm. Diameter 5cm.
