Item Description
A very unusual, 19th century, carved wooden nutcracker. This is from the Black Forest and dates from c.1860. The back of the nutcracker is beautifully carved with grapes and vines and there are stylised leaves around the opening for the nut. The handle is typical of those seen on other pieces from the Black Forest and all of the carving is extremely well detailed. There are two small pieces of carving missing from the largest vine leaf and a piece of the opening for the nut has been broken and re-glued. The wood has a lovely patina.
Dimensions: Length 25cm. Width 8cm. Depth 4cm.
