Item Description
An eighteenth century Wedgwood, polished basalt seal impressed with a Roman, military figure. This is unmarked and it dates from c.1775. During this period Wedgwood produced the finest quality seals and, if the basalt or jasperware were polished, as in this case, they were very rarely marked and this was thought to spoil the appearance. This design in the seal is beautifully detailed, and superb quality, as one would expect from a piece of this period. It is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Length 3cm. Width 2.7cm. Depth 3cm.
