This wonderfully striking oil painting of an elegant nude Art Deco lady smoking a cigarette in a long holder has been beautifully painted.  She really stands out against the muted background tones. Framed & signed bottom right.

Smoking was very fashionable during the Art Deco period and was seen as very chic, daring and feminine.  Anyone could smoke whether rich or poor but it was all about style, class and show so a wide variety of upmarket stylish decorative accessories were produced such as cigarette cases, ashtrays, lighters and of course most noticeable is the cigarette holder. The cigarette holder helped to protect the fingers and teeth from staining, kept ash away from clothing whilst also keeping  smoke away from the eyes.

This fabulous painting would make the perfect talking point piece in any home.
