Item Description

A charming tinplate mechanical moneybox in the form of a circus elephant, made in England in approximately the 1950s. A coin is placed n the groove in the elephant's trunk and, when the metal loop at the back is pulled, the elephant raises its trunk enough for the coin to fall inside. The elephant is depicted sitting on a circus drum with the words 'Jumbo Savings Bank' printed round it. The tinplate is attractively lithographed. There is a lockable hinged plate in the base, complete with key, to allow you to retrieve your coins. Please note, this moneybox cannot be used for £1.00 coins as they are too wide to fit in the groove on the elephant's trunk.

The moneybox is in good working condition with some wear commensurate with its age.
