Large French vintage plaster or chalkware figure of the Virgin Mary. Such statues were often given as gifts in France intended to be a "Guardian Angel" for a new born child, Holy Mary being symbolic of security and peace. Beautiful original paint, which is worn and a little chippy, plus a few small chips to the plaster. All of this makes this statue perfect for home decor, particularly for French Nordic Style / shabby chic / French farmhouse style or it can continue to be used for its intended purpose.
