Early 20th century set of four Fairground knock down figures.

 

The best examples of fairground are we have uncovered. An amazing set of 4 early 20th century hand crafted lead weighted fairground knock down heads. 2 examples are hand carved from wood, and 2 examples are made from metal forms. Each figure has a weighted lead that would counterbalance the form once swung at with a weighted ball. Each head is hand painted with detail as shown. The cast metal rods have adjustable grips to be attached to a pole of sorts. These really are quite amazing and real works of fairground art, recently uncovered from a private collection in the South of France.


Dimensions in inches: H 24” x W 8” x D 9” includes the metal rod and support.

This item shows natural wear and aging through obvious use with worn marks across all the surfaces, missing painted detail is obvious. Rust across the metal areas, these are old used objects and still in very presentable condition as shown in the photos provided, no breaks or structural damage, solid pieces.
