Item Description
A decorative Mid-Century French two-tier occasional table, finished in black lacquer and adorned with hand-painted Chinoiserie scenes.
The shaped, cloud-form tops feature traditional oriental landscapes with pagodas, bridges and figures highlighted in gilt and polychrome tones against a rich black ground. The raised upper tier is supported by turned baluster uprights above a lower tier, while elegant cabriole legs with gilt-lined detailing lend a refined silhouette. A pair of shaped carrying handles mounted beneath the lower tier, allows the table to be moved with ease.
Blending Mid-Century French design with classic chinoiserie decoration, this versatile piece works beautifully as a side table, lamp table or display stand.
Presented in good vintage condition with age-related wear, minor losses to the decoration and surface marks consistent with age and use.
