Item Description
A good, heavy, large scale Nigerian Yoruba bronze torque, 18th / 19th century, on a metal museum stand.
These neck rings were used as traditoinal high value, prestige currency and as wedding dowries. Spiral designs in Yoruba culture and cosmology signify continuity and the cyclical nature of life.
