Item Description
Early 20th Century English Maritime Carving – Twin Tailed Mermaid
An early 20th century English maritime folk-art carving depicting a twin tailed mermaid surrounded by sea serpents. Hand carved from a single piece of dense wood, this sculptural fragment is believed to have originally formed part of a paired set and was likely mounted within a ship’s interior.
The reverse shows joint fixings, indicating it was designed to slot into a larger architectural or decorative framework.
This item was recently discovered in Cornwall, England from a private collector.
