Item Description
A really wonderful piece of furniture made by a mid century try British company named Vespa, who were makers who supplied high end shops like Heals.
This is from the 1950s and I’ve singularly failed to capture the beauty of the wood - which is almost 3D in appearance.
It’s a blonde lacewood - which appears to be sycamore, which is on maple tapered legs. To the right there is a secret velvet shelf which would have been used to store jewlry. It did start life as a dressing table, however it works extremely well as a desk and is a very useful size, and would suit somewhere you don’t want too much space taken up - ie a hall.
In good condition for its age, a couple of dings and minor age-related wear but overall is a stunning, high-quality piece.
height from floor to bottom shelf 57 cms
