Item Description
A refined Art Deco salon suite, comprising a sette and matching pair of armchairs, dating to circa 1930.
Crafted in beautiful figured walnut, the suite displays the strong geometry and elegant restraint characteristic of early 20th Century Art Deco design. Faceted, panelled backrests with gently curved arms and clean tapering legs. The seats have been newly upholstered in antique French linen with fine double-piping.
Most convincingly attributed to Central Europe with a strong Austrian [Viennese] influence . The design of angular backs and soft curved armrests is a hallmark of Vienna Circa 1925-1935, bridging Jugenstil discipline and Deco Modernity.
This elegant set with timeless modernity works equally well in classic Art Deco or contemporary interiors.
