Item Description

Dating to around 1920. This simple characterful country stick would have literally taken about 10 minutes to craft & assemble. A knarly piece of hedgerow Ash for the shaft. A Rams horn pushed on as tight as it would go until the guy who made it was red in face, black fabric based tape to hand that will do for the joint! Penknife out to quickly take off the side shoots on the shaft. Job Done!

Den Doyle no doubt the maker of this stick probably would not have thought it would lasted this long. Possibly made by him for beating or simple farm use work. Tactile? Yes. Beautiful to look at? Yes. Pop it in your stick stand along with all your others, great item with oodles of character.

Most likely Lincolnshire in origin. Early 20th century in date. Name lightly carved into the shaft. Den Doyle.
