An imposing English mid 19th-century cast iron Guarding Lion Door Stop / Porter. The Lion of sejant form raised upon a ornate plinth with its front paws resting upon a half lyre balustrade. Weight 5 kg & just shy of 14 inches in height. Superb time aged condition with original worn paint work. Untouched. Extremely well cast with fine detailing & definition. We especially like the long flowing mane & ribcage profile. A beautiful timeless item with such presence. Still suitable for the intended purpose today. A joy to own & use.
