An exceptionally scarce English Regency period c1820 gilt brass ceiling rose fitting with historical worn late 19th century painted finish. Diameter 14 inches. Depth 2 inches. Centre hole opening 1 inch diameter. Intricately & skilfully made. In very good structural condition, totally original & untouched. Of course could be stripped back of all paintwork, but you may choose to leave it as is. It is stunningly beautiful in its current condition with such a visual look of past time. The construction of this rose & relevant information. Viewed from the back you can clearly see this ceiling rose has been made up from eight individual carefully shaped panels fitted around the centre fanlight petal florette & then all joined together with soldered joints. The brass is of thin gauge. The overall weight being 650g. Three carefully fixed in to position screws against the centre hole sides hold the rose in place, there is evidence of this looking at the marks left in place. The original gold leaf is clear to see in places under the worn later painted finish, the gold leaf has worn away in places on the outer edges. Again you may be minded to leave it in its current condition once seen instead of stripping it. A very rare item in great original untouched good condition. Either use it for its intended purpose or simply hang it on the wall, you will never tire of looking at it either way.
