Item Description
A fantastic Antique waste bin. German WW1 solid brass Krupp Howitzer Mortar shell casing with three base legs attached shortly after firing. At the same time the legs went on, the shell casing was decoratively shaped around the rim. Dating to October 1917 the shell casing was made in the German city of Magdeburg most likely in the Polte ammunition factory. The whole item has very clearly never a seen a drop of polish in its entire life & quite rightly so. It now carries the most deep dark time aged patina. Approximate measurements are 28 cm in overall height, casing diameter 21 cm, base 23.5 cm. Weight 6 kg. A fantastic item & extremely unique. Note: One leg has had a bump (last few images), not broken & it is still firm & in place. Sale includes UK inland tracked delivery.
