Item Description
Really fab hand woven French hemp sheet which dates to the late 1800s. Woven on a narrow one man loom and joined at the centre by a traditional hand stitched seam. Simple hand turned hems and laundry monogram of the letters BP worked in red cross stitch and set in one corner. A traditional and charming piece of French textile history. This size sheet makes a great tablecloth/cover.
This sheet has been used - worn in but not worn out! No thin patches or damage. Very slightly soft to the touch in the centre but 100% good throughout.
So useful to have in the cupboard - a great bed cover, tablecloth, sofa throw, curtain. I always have antique French hemp sheets in stock; please contact me if you are looking for something specific.
A few little pale marks but nothings to detract; they should fade out when the sheet is washed (certainly if it's going to be a tablecloth I would use it first!)
