Item Description
Charming medium sized antique French short sleeved country style linen chemise/dress, entirely made by hand.
Traditional shape and style, tiny CA monogram, lovely French seams, simple gathered neckline, dating to around the late 1800s.
This piece has seen little use and is in excellent vintage condition. I have hand dyed it a warm chocolate brown colour and as always, the antique threads soak up the dye so well. Great with boots in the winter and sandals in the summer - and so, so comfortable to wear.
Freshly laundered and ready for use. A medium weight linen with good drape and a comfortable feel.
I am a quite broad shouldered UK size 12. The shoulder/arm hole is a little close on me but I would happily wear it, it's comfortable. Remember, these are made in such a different way to modern clothing and the arms were more fitted.
Approximate dimensions when laid flat:
Width at base of arm holes: 63 cm (25 inches)
Length from shoulder to hem: 110 cm (43 inches)
Armhole: 23 cm (9 inches)
Sleeve at edge: 16.5 cm (6.5 inches)
