Item Description
This is lovely hand stitched chunky but soft linen metis. A pale oatmeal/off white colour (not yellowy) with a hand stitched monogram of the letters DG set above a hand wrapped ladder hem. Dating to around the 1930s.
This sheet is heavy for its size and the linen drapes well, it'll make a good curtain, tablecloth, sofa throw or bed cover. Really nice slubby weave.
In excellent condition with no thinning, wear or damage. Freshly laundered. A little group of pale pink marks and three or four little blue dots. Faint line of storage marks remaining; this will fade away completely in the next couple of washes.
Linen metis has been favoured by French housewives for generations as it is excellent quality, durable fabric. It is a linen weft and cotton warp - like a linen union.
