Oh my goodness, this is beautiful fabric. An early 20th century French pure linen sheet with hand wrapped ladder hem and beautifully worked rembourrée (padded) monogram of the letters JR.
This sheet is unused but I have now soaked and laundered it twice, it's ready for use. If you like heavier bedding this will make a great sheet, it's a lovely weight for winter with a blanket on top and I love these used on their own on a hot summer night, they don't get all crumpled up, they stay in place and are always cool on the skin.
And of course, a beautiful curtain, sofa throw, bedspread, table cover... This will prove so useful and will last for decades - not something you can say of a modern linen.
As mentioned, this is freshly laundered and ready for use. One very pale mark above the ladder hem, barely visible and one little rust mark down in the middle of the sheet. Colour is a pale creamy beige.
