Item Description
An unusual, 18th century, creamware mould depicting flaming torcheres. This mould is unmarked but this design was produced by Wedgwood and the mould dates from c.1780. The design was used, in relief, on jasperware but it is not often seen in jelly moulds and this example comes from a series of unusual classical design which Wedgwood produced in the late 18th century. It is very well modelled, with good detail and depth to the design. There is one quite large chip to a high point within the mould and there are also two further tiny chips to the interior. These can be seen in the first image.
Dimensions: Length 17.2cm. Width 12.5cm. Depth 3.5cm.
