Item Description
A lovely quality, pair of late 18th century, pearlware tureens and covers with blue feather edge borders. These are both very finely potted and they date from c.1790. Each one is marked with a number ‘9’ to the base which relates to the length in inches. The finials are moulded in the shape of globe artichokes, surrounded by leaves, and these, along with the moulded borders are highlighted in a deep, cobalt blue glaze. Both tureens and covers are in very good condition, with only a couple of faults from the manufacture. One lid has an underglaze chip to the rim and there are small circular patches on both of the lids where something has touched on them in the firing. One tureen also has a very small stain to the rim.
Dimensions: One: Length 22.4cm. Width 19.5. Height 13cm. Two: Length 22.8cm. Width 19.7. Height 13cm.
