Item Description
A super quality, 18th century, Wedgwood, solid blue jasper bough pot and cover. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1780. It would have been used to contain boughs of flowers. The solid, blue jasper body is decorated, in white relief, with a band of harebells and acanthus and to the rim is a narrow scroll border. There are large beads of white jasper around the foot which is decorated with alternating types of leaves. The rim of the lid is reeded and decorated with crossed ribbons. The reliefs are all very good quality. The jasper to the underside of the lid is a slightly different colour to the rest of the piece but there is no damage or restoration. Both the vase and lid are in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Height 16.5cm. Diameter 13.5cm.
