Item Description
A lovely quality, 19th century, English copper mould. This mould has numerous marks. It is marked with the orb and cross symbol used by Benhams above the pattern number “491” and to the opposite side is a workman’s mark in the shape of four tiny hearts. It is also marked ”W.S. ADAMS & SON. IRONMONGER TO THE QUEEN. 57 HAYMARKET”, and it is nicely engraved with the initials “G.R”. It would have been manufactured by Benhams, to be sold by Adams, and the initials are those of a previous owner. It is made from a heavy gauge of copper and dates from c.1870. The design consist of a stylised eight petalled flower to the top above eight tall columns which are divided by shorter columns. It is in excellent condition and the tinning to the interior, although slightly worn, is still in usable condition.
