Item Description
A large, 19th century, French copper preserve pan with a rounded base. This is made from a very heavy gauge of copper, which has a slightly planished finish, and it dates from c.1890. The rounded base is the way in which the pan was made but this does mean that it would only be functional on gas and could not be used on an electric stove or a range cooker as it would not make contact with the stove and the heat would be unevenly distributed. It has a rolled rim and there are the typical, French shape of brass handles to either side. It is in very good condition.
Dimensions: Diameter of pan 42.8cm. Depth of pan 16cm. Overall width including the handles 51cm. Overall height including the handles 19.5cm.
