Item Description
A boxed set of six Mauchline Ware serviette rings, each one, and the exterior of the box, transfer printed with different scenes of Alston in Cumbria. The town of Alston, at 1000 feet above sea level, is the highest market town in England. This set dates from c.1880 and it is quite unusual to find an original set still together. One of the serviette rings has a large chip to the rim, which can be seen in one of the images. Other than this they are all in good condition and, because they have been keep in their box, the prints are all still very bright. The exterior of the box is slightly worn.
