Item Description
A nice quality, boxwood sugar or gesso mould carved with a border of leaves and berries. This would have been used for moulding sugar for cake decoration and plaster (gesso) for decorative plaster work on frames or in buildings. Skilled carvers would carve moulds for both purposes and many of the smaller, finer moulds like this were used for both. This example is well carved, with good detail, and it dates from c.1800. It is in excellent condition. Dimensions: Length 32.2cm. Width 3.4cm. Depth 2.2cm. Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
