Item Description
A nineteenth century, brown salt glaze jelly mould with a swan to the base. This would have been made in Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire, where brown salt glaze earthenware was mostly produced, and it dates from c.1850. The moulding of the design is quite crude and these pieces were seen very much as utility items in their day. The exterior of the mould has a lovely, lustrous brown glaze and the interior has a speckled buff glaze. It is in very good condition.
Dimensions: Length 15.5cm. Width 12.4cm. Depth 7.8cm.
