Item Description
A fabulous, 18th century, fitted box containing a Dutch silver tea making set. The box is of English manufacture and is made from burr walnut with brass and ebony inlay. It dates from c.1760. The silver set consists of a set of six teaspoons, a caddy spoon, a pair of sugar tongs and a tea infuser. These are all matching and have Amsterdam hallmarks. The tongs also have the makers mark “DIEMONT”. William Diemont was active in Amsterdam from c.1800 to 1830 so it is likely that the box was acquired earlier and was fitted out to take the silver when it was purchased around 1800. This is an exquisite set and it is in very good condition with just minor cracking to the veneer on the top of the box.
Dimensions overall: Length 17.4cm. Width 13cm. Depth 5cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £25. Most of Western Europe add £12.
