Item Description
A nineteenth century, French copper, oblong gratin dish. This is quite an unusual shape, it is made from a substantial gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1880. It has a small, brass ring handle at one end so that it can hang when not in use and this is attached with a very simple copper fitting. This type of dish is ideal for making a vegetable gratin or dauphinoise potatoes and it can be taken straight from the oven to the table. It is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
