Item Description
A lovely quality, Irish copper saucepan and cover. Both the pan and cover are stamped “HODGES & SONS DUBLIN” and it dates from c.1850. Hodges & Sons are recorded in Dublin from the 1770’s until about 1860. Both pan and cover are also beautifully engraved with a crown above an ornate letter “L” and the number ”10”. The number 10 would relate to the pans position in the kitchen, for example it may be number 10 from a set of 12. Originally the steel handle was attached with brass rivets but one of these must have come loose at some time and has been replaced by a copper one. The pan is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned, so that it can be used.
Dimensions: Diameter of pan 13cm. Depth of pan 9.2cm. Overall length of the pan and handle 24.5cm.
