Item Description
A large, pewter ice cream mould in the shape of a fish. This is marked “L G” in the casting to both sides. This is the mark of the French company Letang who, in the 19th century, were one of the leading French manufacturers of metalware for the kitchen. It dates from c.1880. It is made in two parts which are held together by a series of brass pins. The mould is very naturalistically modelled, well detailed, and would turn out very well. The pewter handles have both been bent in slightly but otherwise the mould is in good condition. The interior is in very good, bright, usable condition and the exterior has a lovely, dark patina. The brass pins, which hold the two parts together, are replacements.
Dimensions: Length 35.5cm. Width (across the handles) 12.5cm. Height 14cm.
