Item Description
An unusual pair of large, Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip vases. These are marked “WEDGWOOD ENGLAND” and they date from c.1900. This shape of vase would more often be associated with one of the other potteries producing jasperware in the late 19th century, such as Dudsons or Adams. However, these are well marked so there is no doubt as to the manufacturer. The decoration is also quite unusual, having large, single reliefs of putti on each side of the vases and a relief resembling palm leaves around the neck. All of these reliefs are good quality and the jasper dip is a very rich, deep shade of blue. One vase is in excellent condition. One handle to the other has been broken off and glued back on. There has been no attempt at a proper restoration. This can be seen in the images.
Dimensions: Height 25.3cm. Diameter 15cm.
