Item Description
A large, pewter ice cream mould in the shape of a swan. This is marked “L G” in the casting to both sides. This is the mark of the French company Letang who, in the 19th century, were one of the leading French manufacturers of metalware for the kitchen. One side is also marked with the pattern number “1781”. It dates from c.1880. It is made in two parts which are held together by a series of copper pins, and, unusually, the handles to the sides are made from copper which has been tinned. The mould is beautifully, and very naturalistically, modelled as a swan. The interior of the mould is extremely well detailed and would turn out very well. It is in excellent condition. The interior of the mould is in very good, bright, usable condition and the exterior has a lovely, dark patina.
Dimensions: Length 21.6cm. Width (across the handles) 17.5cm. Height 20.5cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
