Item Description
A 19th century, dust pressed, Minton tile from the Shakespearian series. This is marked, in the casting, “MINTON’S CHINA WORKS, STOKE ON TRENT” and it dates from c.1880. It is printed, in brown on a beige background, with a scene from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Act IV, Scene I. This Shakespearian series was designed by Moyr Smith and the tile is signed “IMS” within the print. There is a tiny chip on the rim of the tile but otherwise it is in good condition.
Dimensions: 15.2cm. square by 1cm. thick.
