Item Description
A Minton, dust pressed, block printed picture tile. This tile is marked “MINTON’S CHINA WORKS STOKE ON TRENT” in the casting and it is also marked with “MINTON”, across a globe, surrounded by “STOKE ON TRENT WALBROOK LONDON”. The tile is printed in brown with a woman on stepping stones, crossing a river, with a milk pail in hand. This is from a series of twelve tiles designed by William Wise for Minton in 1882 entitled “Village Life” and this tile dates from c.1885. There is slight crazing to the glaze and there are a couple of very tiny chips to the rim which can all be seen in the image.
Dimensions: 15.3cm. square by 1cm. thick.
