Item Description
A superb pair of large, Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip, trumpet shaped bough pots. Bough pots were made to contain boughs of flowers and these still have their original frogs, or pierced liners, to support the stems of flowers. Both vases are marked “WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND” and they date from c.1920. They are also impressed with a number “9”, which relates to their height in inches, and the letters R and X. Each vase is decorated, in white relief, with four of the Muses standing between trees and foliage. To the top is a fine border of flowers and to the base is a border of grapes and vines. All of the reliefs are very good quality and these were probably made as a special order. Both vases and both of the pierced liners are in exceptional condition.
Dimensions: Height 23cm. Diameter 21cm. (The second vase is 2mm shorter and this is probably due to shrinkage in the kiln)
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £50. Most of Western Europe add £25.
