Item Description
A pair of Wedgwood, pale green jasper dip bottles and covers. These have an impressed “WEDGWOOD” mark and they date from c.1870. They also have a black printed mark which reads “MANUFACTURED FOR HUMPHREY TAYLOR & CO LONDON 1770 DISTILLERS OF FAMOUS LIQUEURS BY WEDGWOOD”. Humphrey Taylor was a distillery, founded in 1770 and based in Chelsea, which produced spirits, liqueurs, gin and rum, and they used Wedgwood for some of their bottles.
Each bottle is decorated, in white relief, with four of the Muses. There is a small, white mark on the side of one of the bottles, where the green dip has not covered fully, but this is from the manufacture. Both bottles are in excellent condition.
