Item Description
A superb quality, 18th century, steel knife with a carved wooden handle. This is probably French and dates from c.1780. The steel blade is stamped with an ornate monogram of the initials “GB” but I can’t find any reference to these initials as a maker of knives. The handle is beautifully carved, in fruitwood, with a wild boar, oak leaves and acorns. There is slight pitting to the blade, from use, and there is a short, filled crack in the wooden handle.
Dimensions: Length 38.2cm. Width of blade 4.5cm. Width of handle 3.2cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
