Item Description
A rare set of pewter ice cream moulds in the shape of bears playing instruments. This little bear band are French and they date from c.1890. Each mould is in three parts which are hinged and held together by brass pins. The brass pins are replacements. The bears are in their various stances, one playing a guitar, one a double base, one a flute and one a squeeze box. We have seen many bear or monkey bands as figures, in various materials, but never before as pewter ice cream moulds. These are all beautifully modelled, with superb detail, and they would turn out well. They are all in excellent condition. The interiors are in good, bright, usable condition and the exteriors have a dark but shiny patina.
Dimensions: The largest is 15cm high by 10cm. long by 8cm. wide and the smallest is 14.5cm. high by 8cm. long by 8.2cm. wide. The other two are in between
