Item Description
A rare set of twelve, 19th century, calendar tiles. These are marked “CRAVEN DUNNILL & Co. JACKFIELD SALOP” and they date from c.1880. This was a small company, set up for the manufacture of tiles. They are still working today, have a museum of tiles at their works, and also do tile matching if you need replacement tiles for renovation work. These tiles are block printed, in a very dark grey, with the months of the year and the designs are quite charming. It is unusual to find a complete set so we are selling them as a lot. There is minor chipping to the corners of the tiles, which can be seen in the images, but there are no cracks or breaks.
Dimensions: Each tile measures 15.2cm. square.
